Pine Table And Chairs

In the Victorian times people were so stuck up and repressed the sight of women’s legs were thought to be scandalous, and so did the legs of a table. The legs of the tables were usually covered up, as those of women. In ancient times, Egyptians would make their tables out of wood or stone, looking like pedestals. Then again, Assyrians used metal to make their tables. Other countries would build tables out of marble.

It was in the medieval times that the idea of eating on tables originated. Chairs were not thought of until much later, so they used benches to sit on. Most were made from whatever the table was made of.

Pine table and chairs are of course made of solid pine. Pine being one of the most understated woods, it is great for a table and chairs. It is sturdy and the more it is used, the prettier it becomes. Some pine table and chairs comes painted, some are stained or others have the natural color of the pine.

Some styles of the pine table are the folding sides of the table. It is great for small dining areas as the sides will fold down, making the table smaller and can seat two people. Most common pine table and chairs will come with the four chairs, but some come with only two chairs or six or eight. Some times when the table seats four people and you can let the sides down, you can put one side of the table up against the wall and lift the other side. Those give you more room and still have a nice table.

Some pine table and chairs have that old country look. The top of the table has a butcher block surface, and the rest of the table could be painted any color. The seat of the chairs has the butcher block of surface as well. This type of table top is great for families with small children. It is a snap to clean up.

Another nice pine table and chairs is the one that goes in the kitchen. Some people like the heavy ornate carvings of the Mexican motif or sometimes called a pub table. They usually stand about thirty six inches high, it could have fat legs, and maybe a star carved at each end. Sometimes the chair will have a star engraved on the seat, to match the table.

For a more elegant pine table and chairs there are ones that are hand carved and painted white. The legs can be shaped to have a slight curve in them, and carved with a wood spindle effect. The king and queen chairs have arms to rest upon. The table can have another type of wood on it or can have a glass top, covering the wood.

To have a cozy spot in the kitchen is great for those breakfasts and lunches. It has a table, maybe two chairs and a bench, usually with a high back. Some will include a corner bench as well. Five people can sit very nicely and still have plenty of room. They come unassembled, but are very easy to put together.
